A friend of mine had recently seen a TV docu about a manager with an autistic son recently. He uses the ability of autists to specialize in some fields, and as his company does wiring in buildings, every plan goes over the desk of the autist. If there is something wrong in the plan, the autist looks at it, and immediately feels some sort of pain. And he can also quickly identify where the source of the pain is - that's the part not belong there (or missing). You can't take the autists to the meetings with the customers, and you can't let them do the tedious planning task themselfes (maybe you could, if the planning tool was elegant enough ;-). We know that sort of pain from engineers, too - when good engineers look into a source code or a schematic, and it is wrong, it will cause pain. Or at least the perception of being ugly and unelegant, if it's not wrong enough to cause pain. If you don't have this sort of feelings when looking at a warty ISA like the x86 or the PIC, then maybe you aren't qualified.
