I'd expect "sizeof arr / sizeof arr[0]" to be fairly common. If it's
wrapped in a macro, you wouldn't see many occurrences of it.
Then again, perhaps fixed length arrays aren't all that common;
dynamically allocated arrays are awkward but *much* more flexible.

6.7.6.2p4, "Array declarators":
Variable length arrays are a conditional feature that
implementations need not support; see 6.10.8.3
6.10.8.3, "Conditional feature macros":
__STDC_NO_VLA__ The integer constant 1, intended to indicate that
the implementation does not support variable length arrays or
variably modified types.
Other optional features are analyzability (annex L), IEC 559
floating-point, bounds-checking interfaces (annex K), atomics, complex
numbers, and threads.

It's been rejected by Microsoft, but Microsoft has effectively rejected
almost everything newer than C90 (except for *some* features that are
also in C++). I'm not convinced that it's been rejected by providers
other than Microsoft, or by programmers who don't depend on Microsoft's
implementation.
