I'd say that "array pointer" is a reasonable informal way to refer to
a pointer to array type. For example, the standard (N1370 K.3.7.3.1"
uses the phrase "char pointer" to refer to an object of type char*.
I agree that "pointer to array" is clearer. (And I've seen
too many people use the phrase "double pointer" to refer to a
pointer-to-pointer rather than a pointer to type "double").
