No, it's a pointer to the first element of the array. x is of type
double*, not double (*)[n].

It's no more a "temporary" than any other parameter. Like any
parameter, it's an object with automatic storage duration whose lifetime
extends across the execution of the function, and there's nothing
unusual about taking its address.

Suppose you want to call a function that updates a pointer object:
void update(double **ptr);
...
update(&x);
Since x is merely a local object, there's nothing invalid about doing
this. It could be argued that modifying a parameter is poor style, but
C specifically allows it.
