Hello all, I am no Forth expert, but I am fascinated by Forth and actively trying to learn more everyday. There really is nothing like Forth. Actually, I think Forth offers a programmer unique kinds of expressive power and expert Forth programmers write lucid succinct code pretty much unrivaled in efficiency. Truthfully, it is a mystery to me how such an amazing language has sat unnoticed relegated to embedded work while much lesser languages, usually fueled by hype, end up web or mobile superstars. The past cannot be changed, but a new Forth standard could change everything. I looked at the Forth 200x page and from what I could tell people were debating the merits of a new standard. Please. As a developer who WANTS to write forth code for a living, please put together a new standard. A new standard need not reinvent good work done, but can we please standardize threads and sockets? Standard object and module syntax would also go a very long way towards making forth exciting and relevant again. Anyway, maybe this was not the right place but I saw how Ada's new standard really made people take a second look and re-evaluate the fitness of Ada for projects, and I would love to see the same happen for Forth.
