The purpose of a standard (any standard) is to codify existng practice, 
not to break new ground. There is interesting, even exciting, new work 
being done in Forth, but a standards body isn't the place to look for 
it. It's being done in Forth applications.

I'm delighted that you're fascinated by Forth. There are companies 
around that are looking for Forth programmers, although they may not be 
in your geographic area (which I have no idea what is, of course), but 
they also look for expertise in the various application areas their 
projects involve.

The principal areas in which Forth is used, in my experience, include 
embedded and real-time control systems. Do these interest you?

Stick around here, and also get in touch with the principal Forth 
vendors (MPE in the UK and FORTH, Inc. in the US) and see how you can 
help them or their customers.
