I agree. I assume the OP was hoping that a new standard would include 
lots of whizzy new features. Some people like to make checklists of 
cool-soundling language features and give Forth a failing grade if it 
doesn't have them, so maybe he was hoping a new standard would improve 
the check-list performance.

Some of the languages in question have come up with features to make up 
for something they lack or have trouble with; if Forth doesn't have that 
problem, why bother? Others of these features are directed toward a 
particular application domain.

Full-blown OOP has, in fact, proven useful for many things (although 
it's not the universal panacea some claim), which is why there are a 
bunch of Forth versions of OOP. I believe this is an area that would 
deserve some work at the standards level. There are enough Forthers with 
OOP experience that it should be possible to work out a reasonable standard.
