I look at a standard as the definition of a community-approved common ground
about what a language should and shouldn't contain. What I'm looking for is
a canonical description of a usable Forth put together by people who are
concerned with making it a successful and good language that is true to its
roots, if there is such a thing. I think most language standards work that way.

That's a little different since at the beginning, most languages have no
standard. Now that we're several decades after Chuck's initial work I was
hoping things would be slightly more codified by now ;-)

Absolutely good advice. Before I even start implementing anything I am
trying to see if there is consensus on what a good usable Forth should
be. If the latest 200x is that consensus then you answered my question.
