JITs are valuable because they allow compiling work to be done at run 
time that isn't possible at compile time. For instance, an array's shape 
may not be known at compile time, but driven by external data; JIT 
compiling SQL statements, where optimisations can be made at runtime 
based on the input data; JIT parallelization for unknown workloads or 
unknown compute & processor availability; etc.
