I went into rather deep detail as to the functional use of each table. Yes,
you can do it all on one table, but part of the FUNCTION is ease of use and
understanding, and having the logical units separated into different tables
helps with that function.

So absolutely, without a doubt, the different tables on the sheet serve a
FUNCTIONAL purpose... one that is key to the tool being used.

You started by asking for the FUNCTIONAL difference between the two. Now you
want to know the COMPUTATIONAL difference.

That is easy, too!

A sheet offers ZERO capability to do ANY numerical function without the
addition of a table. ALL calculations are done in tables. ALL.

Or if you want to see that as a functional difference, a sheet is merely a
container where you can place one or more tables, shapes, text boxes,
videos, etc. It, by itself, is of little if any value.
