Quite so, I agree completely, but this is beside the point under 
discussion. Nothing should keep you from documenting what exceptions a 
method might throw, even if they are unchecked exceptions. For example, 
I quite often document (in javadocs) under what circumstances exactly 
some method would throw IllegalArgumentException. You van even put in an 
explicit throws-clause if you're only having generated javadocs. No 
problem here, as far as I can see.
