There are very few places where exception can be correctly handled.  Most of the catches caused by checked exceptions are just logging or convert to an error message shown either in a dialog box or in response to a browser request.  These are usually done at a very high level.  Checked or unchecked really does not matter.

A catch that wraps an exception only increases code bloat.

Some catches swallows exception (or log and swallow in the middle of call stack).  That's a lot worse than wrapping.

I suggest every one reading this post go back to your projects and take a look at all your catch statements and see how many are not wrapping or swallow or logging.
