I however also remember something about a self-created ld-linux.so or so, which can be used for priviledge escalation. The main problem with chroot AFAIK is for programs with root priviledge, as chrooting those does not help - they have enough priviledge to escape the jail, and mknod /dev/sda c 8 0 is just one possibility.
