It is easier to replace the MX installation w/ a W10 install than it is 
to dual boot starting from a previous linux install.

But you need to determine whether your device's license is for Home or Pro.

Personally I don't see the 'advantage' of installing the Win 10 if your 
principle objection to what you've encountered so far is no sound.  You 
won't have sound on W10 either if you don't develop another strategy for 
making audio than the built-in speakers.  You have a lot of ways you can 
do that.  You should check and see if the headset port is working.  If 
you have some kind hdmi device (such as a soundbar) you could check that.

W10 support is ending.  For someone who likes to update everything, that 
is going to end for W10.  IMO a modern linux is a better fit for that 
machine than W10.

And, if we are doing all of this w/o success from the builtin speakers, 
we might as well update the bios/uefi using the Hirens for a win 
environment to launch the firmware updater.
