I'm convinced that the small loudspeakers themselves DO work - it's simply that they are not receiving the required input!

The only tricky part, is selecting one of the images they
offer for that model of laptop. I don't know why there are
that many on offer.
They have dates of 2018 or 2019, and the purpose of loading
these, is to see if they work the sound or not.
*******
The labeling of the materials in the driver, are meant to deceive
us into thinking there is something special about that sound
chip. The standard way of implementing "features" for sound
chips, it to run some code on the main CPU for frequency shaping.
There is no particular reason to have a DSP56 inside the sound
chip, doing something to the sound and loading "firmwares".
Especially when the installer lists small "firmware" files and
not just one monolithic firmware image.
None of this level of testing would be necessary, if the driver
file collection was not crafted to imply something that is
very like to be not true. RealTek only puts the barest sound
components inside the chip, and any buttery features are done
in system software.
Clicking implies something in the delivery path is
disconnected. In Linux at least, the traditional mixer
panel (like an alsamixer), it would show sliders for the
various channels, and occasionally years ago, you'd see
a control set to "mute". But that would not click.
Now, you saw in mine, in Windows, I have DTS II license and
my chip has a (system software) equalizer as well as
sound effects of the "Concert Hall" variety. The Microsoft
generic driver (late 22H2 release) strips all of that off
and gives you barest sound. And in the year 2025, that's what
I see on the X79 on a daily basis, is the bare chip behavior
and "not what I paid for".
On an older Linux distro, the "Master" and "Front" volume
controls have to be non-zero to hear sound. This is a picture
from the same machine with the four Windows pictures.

In this picture, I'm back in Linux Mint 22 and the
controls offer some differences. You don't really need the top
three, they were just for fun. The bottom one, which is accessible
from the right corner, shows there is a selector for analog sound.
Intel PCH has the analog sound (the HDAudio bus comes out of there
and goes to the RealTek chip).
