Wie bei Crackpots üblich, ist die Behauptung, dass Einstein Poincarés Arbeit
plagiiert hätte, an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Der Crackpot argumentiert zum
Beispiel damit, dass Einstein 1905 Poincarés Vortrag von 1904 doch gekannt
haben musste, da er „wahrscheinlich“ doch abgedruckt worden wäre. Den Beleg
dafür und den Nachweis für die ausgezeichnete Französischkenntnisse
Einsteins, die dieser gehabt haben müsste, um einen solchen Abdruck
überhaupt zu verstehen, bleibt der Crackpot natürlich schuldig.
Tatsache ist: Im Fach „Französisch“ hatte Einstein in der Aufnahmeprüfung
für das Zürcher Polytechnikum [die spätere ETH] 1895 nur eine schweizerische
3; das entspricht – wie ja gerade dem schweizerischen Crackpot bekannt sein
muss – einer bundesdeutschen 4 [die 6 ist in der Schweiz die *beste* Note,
woraus sich wohl die Legende speist, Einstein sei ein schlechter Schüler
gewesen]. Die Französisch-Note war seine *schlechteste* Note überhaupt und
der Grund dafür, weshalb er die Aufnahmeprüfung nicht bestand [in Mathematik
und Physik erreichte er die Note 6], und in Aarau die Matura nachholen
musste, um überhaupt studieren zu können.
Es erscheint daher höchst zweifelhaft, dass Einstein überhaupt die
Anstrengung unternommen hätte, nach Poincarés Vortrag zu recherchieren,
geschweige denn die Sprachkenntnisse, den Abdruck zu verstehen.
Die Tatsache, dass Lorentz sowie Poincaré von einem Äther ausgingen, um das
Nullresultat des Michelson–Morley-Experiments innerhalb der Äthervorstellung
zu retten, wohingegen Einstein das Experiment schlichtweg ignorierte und von
der Annahme ausging, dass es einen solchen Äther nicht gibt, da er nicht
festgestellt worden sei (wobei er sich auf das Fizeau-Experiment bezog, wie
er später sagte), wird dabei natürlich ebenfalls unterschlagen.
Was Crackpots einfach nicht verstehen *wollen* – weil das nicht in ihre
Verschwörungstheorien passt –, ist, dass gleiche Entdeckungen von
unterschiedlichen Leuten gemacht werden können und wurden, ohne dass sie
Kenntnis voneinander hatten. Mehrere Autoren schreiben davon, dass die
„Zeit reif“ für die Relativitätstheorie gewesen sei, und dass, wenn Einstein
die richtige Erklärung nicht gefunden hätte, es jemand anders getan hätte.
Und gerade Einstein hat sich in seinen Arbeiten auf Arbeiten von Lorentz
bezogen, und dieser sich auf Poincaré. So schreibt Einstein in „Zur
Elektrodynamik bewegter Körper“, „Ⅱ. Elektrodynamischer Teil.“, „§ 9.
Transformation der Maxwell-Hertzschen Gleichungen mit Berücksichtigung der
Konvektionsströme.“:

Er war nämlich ein grosser Bewunderer von Lorentz; dieser war für ihn eine
Vaterfigur.
Auch haben "merkwürdigerweise" Lorentz und Poincaré nicht gegen Einsteins
Arbeiten zur speziellen Relativitätstheorie ab 1905 protestiert und nicht
behauptet, dass er sie plagiiert hätte. Sondern vor allem Lorentz hat
wesentlich zur Akzeptanz der SRT beigetragen:

Poincaré hat vielmehr – man könnte es Altersstarrsinn nennen – bis zum
Schluss nicht daran gedacht, Einsteins Beitrag überhaupt zu erwähnen und hat
an einem (nicht entdeckbaren) Äther festgehalten:

| Obwohl Poincaré in seinen philosophischen Schriften die Relativität der
| Zeit hervorhob, verwies er in seinen physikalischen Arbeiten (1900b, 1904,
| 1906, 1908b) weiterhin auf einen (unmöglich zu entdeckenden) Äther und
| unterteilte Koordinaten bzw. Phänomene in lokal/scheinbar für bewegte
| Beobachter, und wahr/real für im Äther ruhende Beobachter.[102][103]

| Historikern angenommen, dass Poincarés Theorie nicht dem entspricht, was
