What part of your Mac is running more slowly in Lion? Everything? The
difference I noted in Lion--even more so in ML--is improved performance
with Aperture and Photoshop CS6. I recently worked on a couple of 1 GB+
TIFFs on a late model 27" iMac with 16GB RAM and ML and the increased
speed in loading, running scripts, and saving was palpable. Piddly
little programs like TextEdit and a few others don't have much room for
performance increases as judged by human time standards. I click the
TextEdit icon and a blank page appears with a rapidity that is
indistinguishable from instantaneous; certainly much faster than I can
prepare myself to begin typing. New Finder window or new
Directory--instantaneous. Mail.app, however, appears to take about 1/2
second to load from not running. An eternity in Mac time. But since I
leave it running all the time I tend to forget that lengthy startup
period.

So get a mouse with a scroll wheel. Better, a Microsoft Mouse with
programmable buttons that will take you to the top or bottom of the
document.

Once again, you don't use Apple Mail, so why even talk about it? Or
does the knowledge that it exists slow your system as well?

Everybody's an expert on what Apple should be doing. And it's still not
entirely about what you like. Get over that and be happy.

And I again find myself stating the obvious--that if you don't like
Lion or ML you should move on to something that you do like. No stigma,
no need to explain yourself or seek approval from your peers. That's
why I don't get the problem. Back to my car analogy: If I decide I
don't like my cars due to bad ergonomics (which is what you are talking
about, basically, I think) I just get something different. Ain't
Nobody's Business If I Do. 

I just want you to know that your pronouncements come across like the
word of god. "If you don't agree with me, you are damned." I
acknowledge each of the points you raised--for you--but I make no
apology because ML suits my needs just fine.
