Sorry, I missed that in your post. Probably narrow thinking on my part;
when I see "Cloud" I think "Gussied up word for 'server,'" so I thought
you meant in the Cloud, on servers not controlled by the corporation
that is running the software.

I have no idea how large firms with their own accounting departments
run their accounting software. I had to limit myself to what I know,
which is the way some medium and small businesses handle accounting--by
hiring the outside accounting firms to which I referred.

I don't see where it is unfortunate if the apps in question rely on
Active-X. As I said, I don't believe that corporate accounting
departments or independent accounting firms will be abandoning Windows
anytime in the foreseeable future, so what does it matter to us what
Windows technology they use? Whatever it is, it's working for them.
