Depends on which pollution you are talking about.

The problem with CO2 pollution is that it just isn't economically
viable to do carbon capture and storage at the coal plant and you
end up producing a lot more CO2 when you use a coal plant to
charge an electric car than you do using a conventional engine in a car.

And you end up with a lot of pollution when you make the batterys
for electric cars too. There is a lot less pollution involved in making
a conventional car engine.

In practice when you consider the CO2 as pollution, as it clearly is,
you produce a lot more CO2 to get the car from A to B when its an
electric car with all the inefficiencys involved in charging it that way.

That clearly isn't true when nukes are used to charge the electric cars.

Which still produces lots of CO2. A nuke plant wouldn’t.
