I am working on a project concerning a programming language and programming environment to teach kindergarten kids programming - using Forth of course. This work is ongoing since several weeks and it is not always easy, because it has to run on Windows, and I am not a Windows programmer nor a programming expert who knows it all. I am glad that there is Forth to give the ability to do this programming, and therefore in my opinion Forth is the best programming language to teach to kids. I had a positive experience in this direction decades ago and I am sure kids are still the same when it comes to programming. Today I had a revelation, based on my experience with working with Windows calls all the week. Are Computer(s) able to think? I like to read your opinion. My opinion is: computers are not able to think. There are stories in the news every now and then about a computer named "Watson", manufactured by the famous IBM company. If this "Watson" computer really would be able to think, I am 100% sure that IBM would offer his services to think for sale or lease, let's say, to do microprocessor firmware development or computer programming. But I never have read about such an offer. Did you? Because of these circumstances (and others, of course) I am 150% sure that computers are not able to think. On the contrary, because that makes programming and especially microprocessor programming so difficult. Everybody who is involved in microprocessor programming has to have the whole concept of this work in his mind to be able to write the right program steps. With Forth we are able to reduce this workload and make this business much easier, but still: even with Forth we have to have the whole concept of this work in our minds to be able to write the right program steps - but in a lot easier understandable and comprehensible fashion. Please let me know what you are thinking about this matter? Is it relevant anyway? Is it relevant for us?
