Well, why do you program?  To accomplish a task?  If you're mostly a
hardware person and you write Forth code to make your circuits do their
thing and it does the job, then that's great.  In my world, though, to
misquote someone, programmers write code for the same reason birds sing:
it's in their nature.  So seeing a lot of languages can both widen your
horizons and help you accomplish harder and harder tasks.  If you're a
musician, why get stuck in one particular style from the 1970's?  Not
that there's anything wrong with that style, it's just that there's a
wider world to explore, and more experiences to gather and bring
together.

To misquote someone else, not knowing Lisp is like never having heard a
symphony.
