Based solely on the level of intelligence shown here by the linux loons,

loons, they can't show why one would want to.  Well other than wanting to

Nope.

Linux just doesn't have anything compelling to make one want to even 
bother with it.  And after 20+ years of being totally free, the market 
has resoundingly rejected it in that role.  With a share that is more 
like a rounding error than anything else, that has to sting!
