Your reaction sounds very familiar to what mine has been when seeing 
similar programmes. I don't really know if it's just me getting older - 
all generations tend to lose touch to a certain extent with the world as 
it changes - or if programme makers really do miss opportunities to 
produce something informative that would still appeal to many.

Yes, there is still a lot of resistance to going to Python 3. It is 
probably better overall but a little too different for many tastes.

BTW, ISTM that the code 'ninjas' like to play with the introspection 
facilities of Python and produce obfuscated code. *If* that too-clever 
complexity is avoided then Python can be a great language.
