Why not simply
public void someMethod() {
this.readFromDB(); // "this." could be omitted
}
? Then you can call someMethod() on as many different Foo instances
as you desire:
Foo f1 = new Foo();
f1.someMethod();
Foo f2 = new Foo();
f2.someMethod();
Foo[] foos = new Foo[42];
for (int i = 0; i < foos.length; ++i) {
foos[i] = new Foo();
foos[i].someMethod();
}
...
