I'd like to think that the movie theaters could still provide
a superior performance over home equipment. The home equipment
is likely to be expensive for a while, and go through a period
of rapid change. When prices drop and people can easily afford
home equipment, movie theaters will have to come up with some
other method to attract customers or go out of business, like
drive-in theaters did when VCRs and sit-down theaters became
more widespread in the U.S. Maybe, they can offer vibrations
and tilting like a Disney experience. Or, maybe they will
have technology that creates smells (non-carcinogenic). Or,
maybe the lead characters in the movie switch to first person,
so you become the main character, like FPS games. There seems
to be one movie doing that: Hardcore Henry. It's likely to be
interesting to see what movie theaters do to survive.

What should we do about that? Accept more socialism? Accept
more government? ...

Well, there are exponential growth rates for many things.
So, it might be here far faster than we could ever imagine,
or it might take centuries for us to grasp the depths and
intricacies of artificial intelligence. It's mainly a
question of do we lose our way or lose control in the process.
Personally, I don't believe that a few simple rules can
effectively control a sentient being.
