In physics you cannot randomly add or subtract numbers, just because they have no or the same units! In physics you have always real physical systems, which need to correspond to the numbers in some way. Here we have electric and magnetic field strength, which the cgs-system unfortunately measures with the same units. But to add or subtract these values would require, to add or subtract those fields, what you cannot do (at least should not do). TH
