A healthy newsgroup needs newcomers, because they will post.  They hope to 
get an answer for something, but in posting they serve as a catalyst for 
the regulars.  "In the old days", there was a constant wave of newcomers 
to any newsgroup (though many wouldn't stick around) and that kept the 
newsgroups healthy.  IN many newsgroups now, that no longer happens, so 
the "regulars" just wait.

Sadly, the newcomers now come in the form of google idiots, replying to 
old posts rather than plunging in and starting a new thread.
