Disproved by showing you an example from elsewhere.  Now, go find me a shot someone has taken (there are loads on the web on camera review sites) from that model of camera which has a true 10MP.

I zoomed in and checked in Photoshop.

So either the sensor is shit, or it's a 2.5MP sensor and the camera software is duplicating the output to make a bigger image.
