The kind of work I do would use the GA part like an FPGA with each cell 
handling a piece of the problem and interacting with the neighbors in a 
real time manner.  GA has never provided enough info to analyze the 
timing statically as done in FPGAs.  The simulator is only a crude 
approximation to timing analysis.  I believe they told me they map the 
timing into multipliers (3x, 5x, etc) of some basic time value.  For 
much work that is plenty good enough, but for hard core real time better 
info is needed.

BTW, "twice as long" is a very rough approximation.  There is data on 
much of the instruction timing and it is complicated by memory ops 
interacting with the instruction prefetch.

I was just wondering if this was being addressed in your simulator.  But 
if GA won't release the info, there is no way to incorporate it into 
your design.  If you have an interest in making the timing aspect of 
your simulation more realistic, I'd be happy to help you learn about the 
timing data published.  It took me a while to dig down and find all the 
nitty gritty details.  The part they wouldn't share with me is timing on 
the interactions via comms channels, both interprocessor and the I/O 
ports.  Some of their timing info is a bit cryptic.
