"Wake up the scheduler" is a term full of importance.  Dig into that if 
you want to understand what is going on.

How much power do you think it takes?  What processor?  What is the 
power source?

The point is there is a *lot* of ground to cover here.  Of course you 
don't run a scheduler as a wait loop if you don't need to or if you 
don't have the power.  But for an interrupt to "wake up" the scheduler 
requires a mechanism to do that.  I just don't feel like digging into 
all the grody details so I described a timer based approach which others 
were already discussing.  If you don't know how much power the timer 
based approach uses, and you don't know the details of the system, then 
why object?  If you want to discuss a way to wake up the scheduler then 
which approach would you use?

BTW, waking up nearly any embedded processor I have used at a 10 Hz rate 
would use barely any more power than the timer itself.
