With that much ram I'd probably run something like Micropython instead
of Forth no matter how well the multitasker worked.  What I wonder
whether something like Erlang could run on a chip like that.  The
current BEAM VM wants tens of MB, and there was an attempt to write a
smaller one (Gluon) that used 1-2MB.  But I think it could be done much
smaller in a Forth-like manner, with a shared heap, or maybe the
possibility of having a few smaller heaps for higher priority processes.
BEAM minimizes latency by having a separate heap for each process.  I
don't know what Gluon did.

There's a new Feather-like board that uses a Cortex-M4 with a cache:

It has 2MB of program flash, 512K of ram, 8k I-cache, various sensors,
Bluetooth, and a microsd slot.  The CPU has no MMU but I think the cpu
it might have some memory protection, so it could run multiple processes
with some memory shuffling and still surely beat old Unix systems.
