Ich bin persönlich nicht tief genug drin, aber ich kenne ein paar Leute, 
die damit basteln, die haben sich den Markt angeguckt und wollen nichts 
anderes. Demnach ist es der Standard mit der breitesten Basis und, im 
Gegensatz zu Windows, (inzwischen) offen genug, daß Open-Source-Jünger

Der Kram braucht kaum Strom, da die Z-Wave Geräte ein vermaschtes Netz 
bilden und somit nur den nächsten Knoten erreichen müssen, was 
Sendeleistung spart. Ein Z-Wave Heizkörperventil läuft Jahre mit einem 
Batteriesatz, das schaffen meine kaum ohne Funk. Es gibt eine 
ordentliche Verschlüsselungsoption mit AES-128, die sich manch 
Billiggerätehersteller leider spart... wenn verschlüsselt, wird ist die 
Sicherheit wohl ok, prinzipielle Implementationsfehler sind mir nicht 
bekannt. Die scheinen da einiges richtig gemacht zu haben. Siehe auch
