Software is developed to run specifically on electrical machines. These electrical machines are developed specifically to run software. Although it is possible to develop software without paying any attention to the underlying machine, nowadays there is a significant number of jobs which specifically require people that have a strong background in both areas of expertise, because they do need those skills to be able to do their job.
