No, then they might have been considered quite nifty. But they haven't changed much over forty years and they're carrying a lot of baggage. And in the meantime C's syntax has pervaded everywhere, while the case-insensitive nature of the Unix is still exasperating a lot of people (even those who don't use it!). -- bartc
