Yes, people have ticked compile-only words, and expected to get an xt
that performs the compilation semantics of the word when EXECUTEd.
And that also works that way in most other Forth systems.

Also, the undefined interpretation semantics did not buy any benefits
and introduced complications in various places, so we decided to get
rid of that part, and define the interpretation semantics of
compile-only words to be the same as the compilation semantics, and we
could simplify the implementation a bit.

Gforth now returns an xt from NAME>INTERPRET for every word.  That's
one of the simplifications we got from defining the interpretation
semantics.

In addition to the colour choices suggested by Bernd Paysan, you can
also do

default-color is err-color
default-color is warn-color
default-color is info-color
