I find it much easier to get hold of people's discarded desktops. Also ex-lease business desktops can be reasonable for day to day use. I haven't built a new computer in years now. Have rejigged a few however. Got one with a core 2 duo off a hard rubbish collection a month or two back. It had 2 minor problems; shorted video card and dead onboard lan. Put a video card in from a previous hard rubbish pickup and fixed the lan issue with a Wifi card that was in a desktop that was given to me. That desktop, I might add, was replaced with a laptop by the lady owner. -- Xeno
