Yet MapMyWalk which I use every time
I walk for exercise doesn’t run the battery
down so fast and it is using the GPS as well.

But it doesn’t keep the screen lit.

google maps sometimes does and sometimes
doesn’t, and I bet that has a significant effect
on the battery because otherwise there would
be no reason the screen blanks quite quickly
unless the app decides to keep it lit.
