Doesn’t necessarily cost anything anymore with the cheapest operations using the data allowance as one of the things to attract new customers with. The data usage of google maps is low enough that it doesn’t exceed even the lower data allowances. And even if you pay for the data at the casual rate of 7.5c/MB, that is a trivial part of what you are spending on petrol alone for that trip. It’s a bit hard to see exactly what the long run in from Goulburn to Central actually cost me at the casual data rate of 7.5c/MB because I did quite a bit of manual browsing just after I had missed the train but the total cost of all the data I used between 04:00 and 08:00 was a grand total of just $2.33 for all that data at the most expensive cost of data. The train left at 07:35 so quite a bit of that would have been for the manual browsing I was doing with the phone on the charger in the TAFE lobby which has power points and USB down the divider between the bench seats. Even if google maps did use $2 of data in the long run in from Goulbourn to Central with google maps running all that time because we were clearly cutting it very fine time wise and I wanted to ensure no false moves at all that would waste any time, that is a trivial part of the cost of petrol over that bit of the trip. And peanuts in the cost of a Garmin GPS or the absolutely stupid $100 cost of their app on a smartphone. >> And it has lane advisorys in 23 countrys right now. >> On both android and iOS, showed >> up at the same time with both too. >> Identical app in fact.
