Yeah, that's what I got but for some reason he didn't ask
to see the seniors card. I don't actually look like I qualify for
one even tho I have done for a long time now, a full decade.

Shit these govt web sites are fucked. Fancy looking but very
hard to find the most obvious fucking information on them.
Went to this one to check the age to qualify and it doesn't
even mention that on the main page at all.

OK, didn't realise that. I assumed that would
be so for me but assumed it wasn't true for
those in Sydney. I had just checked that web
site for the youngest turk who is about to
visit the relos in Sydney over summer and
for me because the light rail stops are all
plastered with big signs saying that the
paper tickets stop on 1-Jan next year.
That doesn't get a mention except at
the deepest level either.

And completely automatic selection of the $1.50
if that ends up cheaper for the day too, well done.

Might as well get one now since its free,
more convenient to have it since those buggers
change their minds all the time at the last minute.

I'd use the auto topup myself or do it online manually.

I did the booking online and only used the monkey behind the
counter to move the booking to next day once I had missed it.
He told me he wasn't allowed to let me charge my phone.
Managed to forget to check if the country waiting room on
platform 1 has power points you can use, I'd be surprised if
they don't for shavers etc.

Yeah, main problem is that its country only and I
normally want to go to sydney, not country stations.

And its only $2.50 for more than the free ones too.

of that stuff when they were being built.

Didn't check how far it went but the wifi worked fine
in the 'grand concourse' upstairs in the Platform 1-4
area and on the XPT itself at Platform 3.

Platform 23 would be more useful when charging
around sydney tho I spose, bit easier to get to.

I added an hour to the 6 hours google predicted and should
have added 2 hours. I don't normally stop to eat etc, just for
the one fill of petrol but that would be more too.

Yeah, that's the way we came, signs were a bit short
when you've never been there before and the lack
of lane voice directions is one major downside with
google maps. Be interesting to try the free alternatives
on that. But that's one major downside with Lumias,
much less to try than androids and iOS on that. And
just what the kids need being so new to Sydney driving.

He can't have been too fazed tho because he drove in
from Ryde on monday evening to try to catch up with
me in person and then ran into the problem with where
to park etc. He should have got the train in instead.
Easy with 20:20 hindsight again.

Yeah, that's the other thing I stuffed up I should have gone to
Ryde where they are currently staying with relos till they find
their own place to rent and got the train in to Central to come
home. Tho that would have added an extra couple of hours.


Not clear exactly where he will be working, induction
is today. Guess renting somewhere with decent public
transport access to there would make sense.

What's the rental market like there now ?  At one time
it was horrendous but I haven't heard much about that
lately, so presumably its not as bad as it used to be.
The relos will know anyway, they were the ones that
talked him into working there. He was looking around
on the net as we drove in, not much for much less than
$400/week. He was renting a granny flat at the back of
a mate's place that I put him onto here before they
headed back to China for a year or so with the midget.
Only paid $170pw for that tho the mate has hiked that
to $190 for the islanders currently renting it.
