Ich hab das für Fahrscheine (auch bei der DB) und Briefmarken benutzt. 
Vor ein paar Jahren hab ich die Karte entladen, angeboten wird sie von 
meiner Sparkasse immer *noch*. Sowohl die Verkehsbetriebe as auch die 
Post haben die Kartenfunktion an den Automaten entfernt bzw. 
ausgeschaltet. Die Verkehrsbetriebe haben zudem den Banknoteneinzug an 
den Außerhaus-Automaten auch noch abgeschafft. Da heißt es, genug 
Kleingeld dabeizuhaben - und zu hoffen, daß der Automat das auch nimmt. 
Diese Automaten können sie auch bald abbauen, weil die quasi nicht mehr 
zu gebrauchen sind. Bleibt nur die teure, sofort entwertete Einzelkarte 
in der Bahn oder in manchen Bussen - diese Automaten nehmen noch 
Banknoten an.

im Sommer 2018 war ich außerhalb der Stadt am Badesee mit dem Rad. Auf 
der Rücktour ereilte mich eine Radpanne. Also bin ich bis zum Stadtrand 
gelaufen und dann dort in die Bahn gestiegen. Einen 5-Euroschein hatte 
ich dabei, sonst kein Geld. Mein Ticket hatte ich recht schnell aber das 
für das Fahrrad habe ich erst 3 Haltestellen vor meinem Umstieg gehabt - 
der Automat akzeptierte genau das Kleingeld nicht, was ich zuvor von ihm 
als Rückgeld bekommen hatte. Zum Schluß habe ich mit anderen Fahrgästen 
Kleingeld getauscht, um mein Fahrradticket zu lösen. Saftladen.
