To me it seems the POP and IMAP port settings are right where I would
expect them to be:

Preferences > Accounts > (accountname) > Advanced

Now, apparently Apple decided that SMTP servers should be treated
differently. All o the SMTP servers are collected as a pool, apparently
so that any mail account can easily use any SMTP server in the pool. So
the path to those port settings is a little different:

Preferences > Accounts > (accountname) > Information > Outgoing Mail
Server > Edit SMTP Server

I think it would be more intuitive if they were both in the same place.
I'm not sure I see enough value for users in having the SMTP servers in
a pool considering it makes users look in a different panel.
