What this also means is that the other 3 pixels in each byte are also dependent on the color bit.  That is why you cannot display violet or green, and, blue or orange in the same byte.

And although the second byte shares a bit with the first byte, you can still display the first byte as violet/green and the second byte as blue/orange.
And pixel #3 takes on the color of the byte where it's bit is turned on.
