I dunno about $7 ARM eval boards, but Freescale has an ARM CM4F for $17 
which I think is a *great* deal.  It appears to use the Beagle Bone form 
factor and might be able to support the peripheral cards intended for 
the Bone.  I believe the Bone has a backwards compatible connector 
feature that provides some level of support for Arduino daughter cards. 
  So there should be no shortage of addons for the Freescale boards.
