Of course.  And the effect is in principle 4x worse for a 32-bit adder
than an 8-bit one.  Whether it's significant in the scheme of things is
unknown without more info, but it's not zero, and may have bearing on
the ARM vs 8-bitter topic.

Lack of code space, lack of ram, awkward instruction set, no compilers.
Yes you could use the VM with external polyforth at some silly slow
speed, but it's hard to see any advantage over a conventional MCU at a
much lower clock rate.
