You might not have been using a 1gig connected backup host full of RAIDed 
SATA drives. Costs and real world again. Because of our econimical solution 
we could afford on a modest budget to maintain mackups of all fileservers 
and RDBMS hosts with many many incrementalsm duplicated too with one on site 
and a second redundant offsite backup - both of which were near zero 
operational cost (no tapes).

Of course I knew it worked because I had to do the odd restore. I really 
don't know why you are having trouble following my use of English.

Please go an read my words again. I said, several times over that a full 
restore to the last backup point was trivial. I also said I have never had a 
reason to do a full restore to a previous to last point.

I also said, that if there was a specification requiring easy and efficient 
restores to arbitrary points in time, that was easy enough to design in at 
the start at some cost to the efficiency of the backup system.
