Not at all relevant. The type of tracking the NSA does is not going to be affected at all by your browser extensions. > The issue here isn't that you are me are interesting. It is that the NSA > doesn't know who is interesting, so they want to collect anything and > everything the can to see what is of interest out there. Even that's not true. The NSA was told to do "anything and everything to prevent another 9/11" and someone thought, "if we have all the traffic, then we can do that" without considering "If we have all the traffic, we don't have the computers, time, or personnel to make any sense of it." Although it is easy to blame the NSA (and in a shorthand way, I do as well) the real issue was the broad scope mandated by the executive branch and the so-called PATRIOT Act bullshit. So, really, if you want to blame anyone blame those idiotic congress people who voted for the draconian PATRIOT Act without even reading it. > They may very well go through your posts and the computers decide you > are of no interest and pass over that data and not flag it for > retention. But during this time, > you'll be a person of interest and could encouter problems flying, at > borders etc. And there's *nothing* you can do to avoid this short of unplugging from the Internet. The collection is not happening at your computer, or even at your ISP, it's happening on the backbones, at the data centers, at the fibre nexuses. Even SSL connections to everywhere will not make a difference because the government has the power to 1) force anyone to give them a copy of the SSL key and 2) compel those people not to tell anyone the SSL key is compromised. > The issue here is that these automated systems will make mistakes and > wronfully flag people who are no threath to anyone. Just likel happened > with no fly lists and many other Bush Jr era police state initatives. I thought we were talking about advertising and companies like Google or Amazon. If you're talking about the NSA it's an entirely different conversation. -- The omnipotent eyesight of various supernatural entities is often remarked upon. It is said that they can see the fall of every sparrow. And this may be true. But there is only one who is always there when it hits the ground. --Hogfather
