Google and others targetting things like adverts based on your browsing
is a known and established fact, and has been since they started doing
it.

Nobody sells individual data to other companies - the task of doing so
would be horrendously difficult (Google doesn't even know who you
are!). They do no doubt sell "trend" data to other companies, but that
will be a statistcal summarisation.

There are things like competition you enter where you give the company
running it to pass on your details to others, and even then your
details are sold as part of a massive people, not individually nor on
request.

The only exception to this would be if the police ask for individual
details for legal reasons, and even then it can be difficult to find
one individual person in amoungst the bazillions of data flowing
through the system.

As always, most of the misinformation spread about "privacy being
invaded" is done so solely by the moronic tin-foil hat nutters.
