To add to the confusion of terminology, the "gcc" executable is not a
compiler - it is a compiler driver, and (with a normal setup) will run
the compiler, assembler and linker programs as needed.

If you have a target that has FPU opcodes for sinning, cossing (if only
it were abbreviated "cus"...) and tanning, you may even get away without
-lm.
