Then carefully think about what I'm doing. Then think again. The advice given (elsewhere) to use the tools provided with the OS you are working with...is a good one. I once used Gparted (from Linux) to delete an extended Windows partition and it took out the entire container! Though that was a dumb mistake, at least I realized it at once and used data recovery software to reverse the change! Lesson learned.
