True, but not relevant for this example, since I explicitly construct
a pointer to an array.

There is no temporary pointer object. arr[0] is an object of type
int, and &arr[0] is a *value* (not an object) of type int*.

I've found a statement in the standard that very nearly says that
array types have the same alignment as their element types. Section
6.2.8 "Alignment of objects" doesn't say so, but 6.5.3.4p3 says:
The _Alignof operator yields the alignment requirement of its
operand type. The operand is not evaluated and the result is
an integer constant. When applied to an array type, the result
is the alignment requirement of the element type.
So I think that answers my question: int[2] must have the same
alignment requirement as int. More generally, some_type[N] must
have the same alignment requirement as some_type.
(There's a very strained reading that could allow int[2] to require
stricter alignment than int, but it doesn't make sense.)
